Trump rocks up to rally in garbage truck and savagely ridicules Biden | US | News
Donald Trump has been snapped arriving at his latest rally in a rubbish truck, in what appears to be a pointed jab at Joe Biden.
The 78-year-old Republican made quite the entrance in the MAGA-branded vehicle at his rally, even hosting a press conference from within the vehicle.
This comes hot on the heels of Biden’s controversial comment about Trump’s supporters being “garbage”, less than 24 hours previous.
Addressing the media today in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a defiant Trump quipped: “How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honour of Kamala and Joe Biden. For Joe Biden to make that statement – it’s really a disgrace.”
The stunt seems to mock the Democrats as the tension mounts ahead of the US election, which is shaping up to be one of the tightest races in recent memory.
With Wisconsin pegged as one of the seven key swing states, polls suggest the outcome there is on a knife-edge. Initially, Biden, who is 81, was reported to have said: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.”
But the White House later added an apostrophe to the official transcript, indicating that the president was actually referring to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s remark about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage”.
The side of Trump’s truck bore his campaign signage and sported an American flag by the window, while Trump himself fielded questions from journalists donning an orange reflective vest, seated in the driver’s seat of the massive truck.
During a press briefing, a journalist questioned if Donald Trump owes Puerto Rico an apology for a remark made by comedian Hinchcliffe at his Madison Square Garden rally. Nevertheless, Trump responded emphatically: “I love Puerto Rico. And Puerto Rico loves me. I don’t know anything about a comedian. Nobody has done more for Puerto Rico than me. Nobody gets along better with Puerto Rico. They love me and I love them.”
At the rally in the crucial state, NFL icon Brett Favre endorsed Trump, praising him with high esteem before his supporters.
Favre declared to the audience: “Just like the Packers organization, Donald Trump and his organization is a winner and the United States of America won with his leadership”.
Fired up by this support, Trump, still wearing the orange vest and met with resounding cheers, robustly defended the American people, saying: “I can assure you we’re not garbage. How dare you say that. Looking out I see police officers, teachers, nurses, grandparents, students. I see everyday Americans that make this country great.”
He commenced his address in Wisconsin proclaiming: “I have to begin by saying, 250 million Americans are not garbage.”
