Drivers are facing huge delays on the M1 after a horror motorbike crash in the East Midlands. Emergency services including an air ambulance have raced to the scene near Northampton after a crash involving a motorbike.
National Highways East Midlands wrote on X earlier: “Following a collision involving a motorcycle, the #M1 northbound between J16 #Northampton and J18 #Crick has closed. Emergency services, including the air ambulance are in attendance. There is congestion of approx. 5 miles on approach.
Northamptonshire Police have confirmed that two people were seriously injured and taken to the University of Coventry Hospital. Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said it “currently has two appliances on scene” with crews from Long Buckby and Moulton “assisting emergency services colleagues from Police and the Air Ambulance”.
A diversion route is currently in place while emergency services respond. The Daily Express has also contacted the Air Ambulance Service, and East Midlands Ambulance Service for further information.
