Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones reunite in epic first | Films | Entertainment

When drummer John Bonham died in 1980, Led Zeppelin was done.

Apart from a couple of one-off shows, which concluded with the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in London with Jason Bonham on drums, the world’s best-selling band, after The Beatles and Queen, called it quits for good.

But now surviving members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have reunited in an epic first: not back on stage, but on the big screen.

In an unprecedented move, the trio are talking heads in the first-ever authorised Led Zeppelin documentary film.

Becoming Led Zeppelin charts the band’s origins and rise to global stardom and will be released in cinemas this February.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Becoming Led Zeppelin explores the origins of this iconic group and their meteoric rise in just one year against all the odds. Powered by awe-inspiring, psychedelic, never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, Bernard MacMahon’s experiential cinematic odyssey explores Led Zeppelin’s creative, musical, and personal origin story. The film is told in Led Zeppelin’s own words and is the first officially sanctioned film on the group.”

Becoming Led Zeppelin is exclusively in IMAX on February 5 and 6 and in cinemas everywhere from February 7.
