World’s richest F1 driver ever – net worth £2bn more than Schumacher and Hamilton combined | World | News
Formula One is one of the most watched sports on earth and beloved by a bevy of wealthy and powerful figures.
However, such is the profile of F1 that many of its biggest stars have amassed fortunes to rival oligarchs and tech entrepreneurs.
And while the likes of track legends Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher have earned more than any other F1 driver during their glittering careers, the family wealth of one current driver puts him firmly in pole position ahead of the rest.
Canadian driver Lance Strulovitch, known as Lance Stroll has made a pretty penny throughout his career since making his Formula One debut aged 18, with an estimated net worth of $50 million (£39.5m), according to CelebrityNetWorth.com.
But the 26-year-old is poised to one day be an inheritor of his F1 mogul father Lawrence Stroll’s vast multi-billion pound fortune, which could mean his bank balance far exceeds that of racing’s all-time greats.
Lawrence, 65, built a huge business empire in cars and fashion and became executive chairman of Aston Martin after leading a £182million investment in the car company in early 2020.
The deal saw his Formula One team, Racing Point, rebranded as the Aston Martin Team, marking its return to track racing’s top competition after six decades, as per Forbes.
His son Lance drives for Aston Martin, having been on the Racing Point team before the rebrand.
Lawrence is estimated to have a networth of $3.8billion (over £3billion) as of December 19th this year, according to the outlet.
Schumacher is often singled out as one of the sports top earners, having built an astonishing fortune thanks to his legendary Formula One career.
The German racing hero has been living in privacy following a horrific skiing crash in 2013, but was recently seen publicly for the first time in over a decade.
The Ferrari icon is estimated to have earned between £60m and £76m annually during his heyday, both from prize money as well as lucrative deals with brands including oil giants Shell.
He’s understood to be worth around $600m (£456m) today – and he and his wife own an enviable real estate portfolio that extends beyond Majorca.
Meanwhile, the net worth of Hamilton‘s archrival Max Verstappen is thought to have risen to a jaw-dropping £165million, according to Racing News 365.
The Red Bull Racing driver is thought to earn a base salary of around £43.5m at the brand and is also creating his own GT team.
